Usually the first contact I receive is an email from a potential family. When I respond, I gain a phone number for a short phone conversation. The next step is to fill out a puppy questionnaire, which lets me know what you like, how you train, your abilities, expectations, and dreams for your new puppy. Once a litter is on the ground, I contact potential families with the news. As I raise the litter, I get to know each and every puppy personally and keep detailed notes of each pup's daily progress through my puppy program. In addition to the puppy questionnaire, I have several conversations with new families discussing your abilities, expectations. It is so important for people to understand that there is no "pick" puppy but instead each family has its special "pick" puppy. It is my heart's desire that you be happy with your puppy and be successful with you puppy. My reputation depends on your success. I wean puppies completely at 6 weeks old and temperament test them at 7 weeks old and based on my log notes, family's puppy questionnaire, and temperament test results, I choose which puppy goes to which home. Of course a new owner can participate in the selection process; however, the final decision is based on an array of evidence gathered from the moment the pups were whelped instead of an emotional response.
Socializing puppies has traditionally been considered the responsibility of the new owner; however, research shows that encouraging a stable temperament can begin at 3 days old while still with the breeder. True Grit Golden Retrievers uses ENS as part of our puppy program to ensure their puppies have a great start on being more adaptable to all the situations they will encounter in life. The first three weeks of a puppy’s life are a crucial time. Their eyes do not open until around 10 days, and the sense of hearing starts around 2 weeks. The most important way to interact with our litters during this phase is by touch. During daily love and handling, ENS is accomplished so puppies learn how to deal with life stressors and that human touch is a pleasant experience.
It is my heart's desire that you have a True Grit Golden Retriever puppy that becomes part of your family for many years to come. I take responsibility for every puppy I produce and stand behind every dog I have bred for the lifetime of the dog. I carefully researched pedigrees, double-checked health clearances, nurtured the dam, and raised the puppies in my home. My goal is to produce superior Golden Retrievers that are perfect for companionship and the various dog sports. I truly did put my heart and soul into breeding YOUR puppy. https://youtu.be/VvmxGyzfy9M
