I've never known a time when I was not living with, loving, training, and competing with a dog. I compete regularly in AKC obedience trials and AKC and UKC hunt tests. I am a member in good standing of the Louisiana Capital City Obedience Club, the National Association of Dog Obedience Instructors, the Feliciana Retriever Club, the Amite River Hunting Retriever Club, the Pontchartrain Hunting Retriever Club, and the Golden Retriever Club of America. I participate in continued education with Kevin Cheff, Pat Burns, Pat Nolan, Connie Cleveland Nolan, and Julie Hill. My active breeder mentors are Kelly Kouwalki of HighRoller Golden Retrievers and Kathy Luke of Breu Bayou Golden Retrievers.  I regularly seek feedback from my peers because I always wanna be better.

I trained my first competition obedience dog under Dick Russell in 1981.   We won the Dog World Award for scoring 199, 198, and 197 1/2 out of a possible 200. Dick Russell was impressed with my character and mentored me as an obedience class instructor and dog trainer in Baton Rouge for nearly 10 years.   It was Dick that sponsored me in 1995 to become a professional level member of the National Association of Dog Obedience Instructions.  This experience changed my life and I will be forever grateful to Dick Russell.  

Soon after Hurricane Katrina in 1995, I began teaching classes in Ascension Parish. Dream dog school was my dream, and I followed Dick Russell’s example of doing everything within the confines of the classroom to help my clients achieve the dogs of their dreams.
